I’m Prabu Mohan from Tamil Nadu, India — a mathematician by profession and a photographer by heart. I hold a PhD in Applied Mathematics and have spent over two decades teaching mathematics to university students across India, Malaysia, and Vietnam.

My photography journey began in Hanoi, where I lived for 12 years. What started with a simple point-and-shoot camera slowly turned into a lifelong passion. Moving to Vietnam opened a new world for me — vibrant culture, striking landscapes, and everyday moments that felt both foreign and familiar. To capture those, I bought my first DSLR and began teaching myself photography through countless YouTube videos and online articles.

 

I’ve always been a nature person. Landscapes, waterfalls, mountains, beaches — that’s where I feel most at peace. I love chasing light during the golden hours and often travel solo, blending photography with the joy of discovery. My travels are not just about making images, but about connecting with the places and people I meet — whether it’s a quiet chat with locals, a sunrise hike or camping under the stars in northern Vietnam.

 

When people see my photographs or videos, I want them to feel like they’re right there — sensing the breeze, hearing the waves, and sharing that moment of calm and wonder.

 

Over the years, my photography has been recognized both in Vietnam and internationally, with my work published in The Telegraph (UK), The Times (UK), and National Geographic. My images have also received several awards and media coverage, including an interview on Vietnam’s national television (from 14:03 onwards). 

 

For me, photography is a way of slowing down — of noticing beauty in the ordinary and finding peace in the rhythm of nature. It keeps me curious, grateful, and connected to the world wherever I go.
